Center "Pushkin Institute" SUSU holds an international online Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language

On October 15, the International Online Olympiad in Russian as a Foreign Language was launched. The Olympiad is organized by the Pushkin Institute SUSU State Scientific-Educational and Coordination Center for foreign students studying outside Russia, as well as in universities in our country.

The goal of the online Olympiad is to arouse interest in a deeper study of the Russian language and culture and popularize Russian education in the global scientific and educational space. Participation in the Olympiad will allow foreign students to test their knowledge about the history of Russia, its features and get an assessment of proficiency in Russian and terminology in the field of digital technology.

Undergraduate and graduate students, as well as graduate students are invited to participate in the Olympiad. The Olympiad is held in two rounds. At the first qualifying round, the basic knowledge of Russian is checked. The second round aims to test the knowledge of the history of the Russian language and culture and the specifics of using the Russian language in the field of digital technology.

“The first direction is more focused on the humanities, because it requires an in-depth knowledge of Russian culture and history. The second direction can be called special. Russian is often for foreigners a means of obtaining education in our country. South Ural State University is currently developing within the framework of the digital industry concept, and therefore it was decided to make this direction of the Olympiad not only engineering or technical, but also try to present the Russian language in the field of digital technologies ",” the person in charge activities, associate professor of the department of Russian as a foreign language ILIMK SUSU Olesya Sharafutdinova .

Both stages are carried out remotely. To participate, you must read the instruction and Fill out the registration form by link . The first round is held from October 15 to November 10 in the SUSU testing system. Participants are invited to answer 30 questions on the knowledge of the Russian language with the choice of the correct answer or to establish compliance. Task execution time is limited to 40 minutes. The maximum number of points - 100.

In case of successful completion of the first round, participants will receive a notification of the transition to the second, final round of the Olympiad, which will be held from 15 to 30 November. Here participants will be offered assignments to establish compliance, consistency, as well as questions that imply a detailed answer. The results of the Olympiad will be announced before December 20.

Note, the online Olympiad is held as part of the Action Plan to support the Russian language and education in Russian, for the implementation of which the South Ural State University received a grant in 2018. The work is carried out as part of the project “Creating and developing a network (at least 8) “Pushkin Institute” centers in the PRC on the basis of organizations conducting instruction in Russian ”within the framework of the implementation of the event“ Subsidies for the implementation of measures aimed at the full functioning and development of the Russian language ”of the main event “Development of open education in Russian and learning Russian”. Center "Pushkin Institute" is actively working in this direction in the People's Republic of China, where SUSU has now opened two centers of the partner network.
